Cold Weather Energy Conservation Tips

Extremely cold temperatures + increased usage = increased demand for power. Small steps can make a big impact. Use these tips to stay warm and conserve electricity.

  • Postpone using electric appliances such as dishwashers, dryers and cooking equipment until the warmest parts of the day when power demand is lower.
  • Reduce the use of heating by adjusting thermostats to 68 degrees F. or a temperature that is both comfortable and safe. (Wear additional layers and bundle up to stay warm).
  • Turn off lights, appliances and other electrical equipment not needed.
