Locating Your Water Meter
Jackson Energy Authority water meters are enclosed in a metal or concrete box in the ground generally located near the street or curb in front of your home. The water meter box will have a metal or plastic lid marked “water” and the meter itself will most often have a hinged cap to protect the face. The lid and box should be kept free from obstructions such as grass, leaves, yard waste or debris so that meter readers gain access easily.
To access your water meter, insert a small rod or flat head screwdriver into the small hole on the lid of the box and lift carefully as the lid could be heavy. When opening, be cautious as insects, reptiles or small rodents can reside in the box. If applicable, raise the hinged metal cap to expose the face. Wipe away any dirt or debris from the face to ensure a clear read.
