Getting Started
Getting services with Jackson Energy Authority is a simple process but could require documents or fees from other sources including the City of Jackson and Madison County. Please refer to the information below to get started. To begin the construction process with Jackson Energy Authority, please call New Accounts at 731-422-7315 or 888-577-6427.
New to town and never had services with Jackson Energy Authority?
Your first step will be to fill out and submit an application for service. For residential construction, the application can be completed online and submitted by email. For commercial construction, the application can be downloaded, completed and submitted by email or in person. Once the application has been submitted, a New Accounts Coordinator will create a new address or premise number/ID and contact you with your new customer account number.
Existing Jackson Energy Authority customer?
If you have existing services with Jackson Energy Authority, please contact New Accounts Services to have a new address or premise number/ID created.
Setting Up Services
Utility specific information is needed for the work order flow process in order to get services set up.
Electric
- Size and voltage required (120/240V; 120/208V; 277/480V)
- Electric meter spot location (determined by Jackson Energy Authority Project Coordinator and customer)
- Floodlights
- Locations needed (determined by Jackson Energy Authority Project Coordinator and customer)
- Customer costs (provided by Jackson Energy Authority Project Coordinator)
- Signed contracts (40 month for floodlights; 1 year for security lights)
Natural Gas
- Identification of delivery pressure (Jackson Energy Authority provides a standard delivery pressure of seven inches of water column - approximately 0.25 psi)
- Identification of natural gas appliances (central heating unit, water heater, cook stove, generator, fireplace, dryer, etc.)
- Appliance locations (determined by Jackson Energy Authority Project Coordinator and customer)
- Signed Commercial/Residential Natural Gas Request Application
- Distance of pipe needed and customer costs (as measured and determined by Jackson Energy Authority Project Coordinator – 120 feet of service free with water heater and central unit installation on residential only)
Propane
- Identification of propane appliances (central heating unit, water heater, cook stove, generator, fireplace, dryer, etc.)
- Tank and meter location (determined by Jackson Energy Authority Project Coordinator)
- Signed Propane Service Agreement
- Distance of pipe needed and customer costs (as measured and determined by Jackson Energy Authority Project Coordinator)
Water
New Installation (Developer installed mains and service laterals)
- Meter size required (based on GPM requirement)
- Costs (provided by Jackson Energy Authority Project Coordinator)
- Customer payment
- Water meter permit (pulled and provided by customer from City of Jackson)
- Location (determined by Jackson Energy Authority Project Coordinator, identified by mark and staked)
Fire Hydrant Meters
- Meter size needed (deposit required: $200 for 1” meter; $1,375 for 3” meter)
- Signed meter agreement and deposit
- Customer pick-up (where applicable)
Wastewater
Gravity Fed System
- Location (determined by Jackson Energy Authority Project Coordinator, identified by mark and staked)
- Sewer lateral permit (pulled and provided by customer from City of Jackson)
- Service lateral (6” provided to property line by Jackson Energy Authority; customer connection from that point to the house)
- Force Main System
- E1 pump location (determined by Jackson Energy Authority Project Coordinator and customer near septic tank location, identified by mark and staked)
- Pump and control panel installation (responsibility of customer via licensed electrician)
