Locating Your Electric Meter

Your electric meter should be mounted outside your home where the power line comes into your home, often on the sides or back. If you have overhead service, you will see the power lines from the pole to your house. If you don’t see any overhead lines from a pole coming to your house, you have underground service and you should see pipes coming up from the ground on the side of your house. If you live in an apartment, duplex or other multi-unit dwelling, the meters will be grouped together in a meter bank, each labeled with a unit number.

It is important to have safe and clear access to your service line and meter for any utility maintenance. Avoid landscaping, building gardens or fences and remove any overgrowth around your electric equipment.
