Jackson Energy Authority (JEA) provides a standard delivery pressure of seven inches of water column (approximately 0.25 psi) for natural gas. The feasibility of providing a delivery pressure other than standard pressure and the type of metering and pressure regulation shall be determined by JEA. It is recognized that certain customers have requirements above this level and requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis after meeting the following criteria:
- Customer has natural gas fired equipment that requires higher than standard pressure. It is recommended that before purchase of such equipment, the request should be approved to determine the availability of proposed pressure. JEA prefers to provide the minimum pressure necessary for proper operation of facilities, usually pressures below 5 PSI. Verification of this requirement will be by listing type of equipment, make and model.
- Customer-owned facilities are designed for, and will meet, all Federal, State, and local codes. Pressure above 5 PSI and customer piping sizes 4” and above will require welded pipe.
- Customer will provide all necessary downstream pressure regulation to protect facilities.
Reasons for denial include, but are not limited to the following:
- Failure to meet the above criteria.
- JEA’s safety concerns regarding the non-standard natural gas pressure request.
- JEA’s distribution system does not have the capacity to deliver the requested pressure.
It should be noted that the approval of non-standard delivery pressure does not guarantee the pressure will be available under all conditions. Certain system conditions could make the desired pressure unavailable, such as extreme cold weather, emergency situations, maintenance, etc.

The Owner/Contractor further confirms the gas service installation area is at final grade prior to installation and acknowledges that any post-installation grade changes requiring adjustment, repair, or replacement of gas facilities shall be at the Owner/Contractor’s expense.
