Fire Hydrant Meter Agreement

To receive a fire hydrant meter, an account must be created, deposit must be made based on the size of the meter as indicated below, and agreement signed by all parties. Visit Jackson Energy Authority New Accounts at 250 North Highland Avenue, Jackson TN to begin. Deposit for meter is payable by check only, no credit cards.

Jackson Energy Authority agrees to furnish a fire hydrant meter for use at the following address:

Charges for the use of the meter will be based on the G-1 rate with a minimum bill based on the meter size. The monthly minimum will be the minimum bill or the actual consumption, whichever of the two is highest.

A one-time billing and handling charge of $50 for each meter will be added to the first bill. (Charge can be waived if meter is picked up by customer). Customer is responsible for notifying Jackson Energy Authority upon discontinuation of use of the meter.

In special cases where fixed meter locations are not feasible, said customer agrees to furnish monthly meter readings to Jackson Energy Authority no later than the 25th of each month. Meter readings can be provided by phone to 731.422.7274 or by email to billing@jaxenergy.com. Customer agrees to make the meter available for Jackson Energy Authority service personnel upon demand. Failure to provide the meter readings as may result in a Diversion of Service Charge in the amount of $150 to be added to said account.

On an annual basis and no later than November 15th of each year, customer agrees to deliver the meter to Jackson Energy Authority for an inspection of the meter. Failure to do so may result in a Diversion of Service Charge in the amount of $150 to be added to said account.

Customer agrees to be responsible for theft, damage (including damage resulting from weather), or loss to the meter as long as the meter is assigned to said customer.

Fire hydrant meters can be picked up or dropped off for inspection at Jackson Energy Authority’s Meter Shop located at 185 Meadow Street, Jackson, TN 38301 between the hours of 8:00am - 3:00pm, Monday - Friday.

Each of the undersigned has read this Agreement and, by completing the fields below, agrees to be bound by its terms and conditions

The undersigned hereby makes application for the utility services and agrees to pay for said services as measured by the Jackson Energy Authority meters according to rates applicable. The applicant agrees to permit authorized agents of the Jackson Energy Authority free access to the premises of the consumer for the purpose of inspecting, reading, repairing or removing property of the Jackson Energy Authority. The applicant agrees to provide Jackson Energy Authority copies of current and past financial statements and tax returns if requested by Jackson Energy Authority. The applicant agrees that any cost involved in collection of past due balances on this account including, but not limited to, collection agency fees, attorney fees and court costs will be paid by the applicant.

The Jackson Energy Authority shall have the right, but shall not be obligated to inspect any installation before Electric, Gas, Water and/or Wastewater service is introduced, or at any time, and reserves the right to reject any wiring, piping or appliances not in accordance with Jackson Energy Authority Standards, but such inspection or failure to inspect or reject shall not render Jackson Energy Authority liable or responsible for any loss or damage resulting from defects in the installation, wiring, piping or appliances, or from violation of the Jackson Energy Authority’s Rules and Regulations, now in force or as may hereafter be adopted, or from accidents which may occur upon customer’s premises.

The applicant agrees that this application is subject to the Jackson Energy Authority’s Rules and Regulations, now in force or as may be adopted, copies of which are open for inspection at the business office of the Jackson Energy Authority; and that such Rules and Regulations are a part of the agreement and incorporated herein by reference.
